| Veneratio Bovis: Respect the Bull
Behind the Name:
Seattle Matadors is a secret society in the tradition of secret societies. Not like college frats or Skull and Bones, but like those old secret societies, back when they were cool. Maybe like Skull and Bones (but only if you think Skull and Bones is cool).
Matadors' primary quarry is the sea run bull trout of the pacific northwest (aka Dolly Varden). A member of the char family of fishes, the sea run bull trout possesses traits sought by fly fishers worldwide: incredible beauty, a tenacious fighting ability, challenging migratory and feeding behavior. Bull trout reside in the most pristine waters, and spawn at the highest altitudes of any migratory sea run fish.
Connecting with this distinguished piscatorial energy is the Matadors paycheck.
Matadors= Bull (trout) fighters, not slayers.
Mission 1:
Matadors strive to improve habitat and health of char worldwide. Thinking globally, acting locally. Admitting our innate predatory instinct, we strive to mitigate our fishing practice through catch and release, education, public policy change, and donations of money and strength for habitat restoration.
Matadors reject the current trajectory of McDonalds, Walmart and low calorie beer; working instead to re-orient culture view towards fish and wild habitat restoration, hard work, personal responsibility and core values.
Mission 2:
Matadors fish all available waters, drink all available beer, deny all accusations, and occasionally tie flies, make art, pull media stunts and talk shit.
